PicMonkey Product UI Visuals

I worked on various small UI illustration design projects that involved thoroughly researching and understanding the product feature functionality and collaborating with a writer UX copy as well as a UX designer for final design sign-off.

Text Palette UI Visual

The goal of this temporary illustration was to communicate that:

  • users are still able to Add Text

  • all other Text functionality is being moved into a new Text Layer Palette (shown in screen)

I explored a variety of different visual options, trying to use an eye-catching existing illustration as a quick, temporary placeholder since the actual UI was still in progress and could not be shown as part of the illustration.

For the second round of iterations, the focus shifted to highlighting newly solidified UI in the image so users have a better understanding of the intended experience. I played with a subtle background treatment to increase readability of the image, as well as having the call to action higher for increased click through. We ultimately ended up choosing option D.

Background Layer Palette UI Visual

The goal of this temporary illustration was to communicate that:

  • all canvas edits menu becoming a part of background layer palette functionality

  • the background palette is a new UI feature

I came up with 2 solutions that emphasize the background layer palette features and functionality at a glance. We ultimately went with option B to further emphasize that this only applies to the background layer only, not any image layer in the document.
